Sony Pictures has announced the world's first Blu-ray disc with movies in 3D. The disc with the film "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" will go on sale in Germany on June 1, the website Blu-ray.com. The cost of the disk is 28.99 euros, up 9 euros more than the traditional "two-dimensional" version, which goes on sale the same day. In order to distinguish between 2D and 3D versions of each other, Sony Pictures decided to release the latest in a blister pack with the logo "Blu-ray 3D".
In February, Sony Pictures announced plans to convert a 3D format for a significant part of films from its archive. This company plans to release movies on discs for home users. Sony representative said that the sale of these discs can come in the next fiscal year.
In the summer of Sony also plans to introduce on the market 9 3D-models of television sets and players. In February, the company has already released the first Blu-ray player with support for 3D, which cost in the U.S. is $ 199.
Note that many manufacturers, including LG Electronics, Samsung and Panasonic have announced plans to release a 3D-TV for home users.
