AMD is reduced the backlog from Intel in the market of computer microprocessors, reports Reuters. According to analyst firm iSuppli, which refers to the agency, in the fourth quarter of 2009, the share of AMD rose by 1.6 per cent over the same period in 2008, while the share of Intel fell 1 per cent. Indicators of Intel and AMD in the 4 th quarter amounted to 80,6 and 12,1 percent respectively. Shares of the two largest manufacturers of computer chips for the whole 2009 were distributed as 80.3 Intel and 12.1 percent for AMD. Compared with 2008, Intel and AMD managed to increase its market share by 0,3 and 0,2 percent respectively. This increase occurred due to other manufacturers, the largest of which is a VIA Technologies.
Analyst iSuppli noted that by the end of 2009 the cost of computers and laptops significantly decreased compared with 2008. This could lead to a significant change in the proportion of manufacturers, but Intel and AMD have managed to maintain relative parity and does not suffer from reduced system cost.
Leading analyst firm IDC and Gartner, the consensus is that the microprocessor market in 2010, expects significant growth. IDC predicts increased supplies by 15 percent compared with the year 2009. Gartner said the growth in sales of computer processors at 13 percent.
