Hewlett-Packard Corporation on April 28 announced the purchase of the manufacturer smartphones Palm. The deal amounts to 1,2 billion dollars. It is reported by AFP. It is assumed that the transaction will be closed until July 31, 2010. Hewlett-Packard intends to redeem shares at the price of the manufacturer smartphones 5.70 dollars apiece.
As the agency with reference to the statements of both companies, the purchase was approved by the boards of directors of Hewlett-Packard and Palm. Chairman and CEO of Palm, John Rubenstein (Jon Rubinstein) will retain their posts.
Palm was offered for sale in mid-April. The interest in buying the company, whose market capitalization is approximately 870 million dollars, expressed HTC Corporation and Lenovo Group.
