Apple has bypassed Motorola in the list of the largest manufacturers of mobile phones in the U.S., the Associated Press reported with reference to the quarterly reports of companies. In January-March 2010, Apple sold 8.8 million smart phones iPhone. For comparison, Motorola sold over this period, 8.5 million phones. The largest producer of mobile phones in the world remains a Finnish Nokia. According to IDC, the first quarter, Nokia delivered 107.8 million mobile phones around the world. Note that the top three also includes Samsung and LG Electronics. Together the three leaders took more than two-thirds of the world market. Neither Apple, nor Motorola were not included in the five largest producers.
During the year the mobile phone market grew by 21.7 percent. It showed the greatest growth of the company RIM - manufacturer of smartphones BlackBerry - and Samsung, sales of which increased by 45 and 40 percent respectively. This has enabled Samsung to consolidate second place in the list with an index 64.3 million phones
RIM first entered the top five producers. Interestingly, the list is replaced Motorola, which slid to eighth place. Note that in the last quarter, Motorola sold 12 million phones.
According to research firm Strategy Analytics, which leads Reuters, in the first quarter of 2010 also increased the worldwide market for smartphones. In January-March were sold 54 million smartphones, which is 50 percent higher than a year earlier.
