LG Electronics has announced a smartphone based mobile OS Android 2.1, Engadget writes with reference to a press release of the company. LG Ally will be officially presented on May 11.
The smartphone, made in the format of the slider, will be equipped with a qwerty-keyboard and touch screen with a diagonal of 3.2 inches. Also, Ally will have a 3.2-megapixel camera, slot for memory cards microSD, Wi-Fi module and Bluetooth. Other characteristics of a smartphone is not reported. In a press release, LG has announced a collaboration with the film "Iron Man 2" marketing campaign in support of the device. The company launched the site LGIM2.com, and laid on the service's official Youtube commercials Ally.
It is reported that the smartphone will go on sale in the U.S. May 20 an unnamed price. Start selling the device outside the United States has not yet reported.
In January, LG has announced plans to submit in 2010, about 20 new models of smartphones. It was reported that half of them will be running OS Android. LG reported that Ally will be its first smartphone based on OS Android, but in autumn 2009, LG has introduced a smartphone Eve, who is running Android 1.6.
In April, it was reported that Android entrenched in fourth place in the list of most popular smartphone platforms in the U.S.. In December 2009 - February 2010 Android held 9 percent of the U.S. market.
