Sales of microprocessors in February 2010 rose by 56 percent compared with 2009. The average monthly volume chip market for the period from December 2009 to February 2010 amounted to 22 billion dollars, according to a press release, the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association (Semiconductor Industry Association, SIA). The leader in sales of processors has become the Asia-Pacific region (APR), where there were more than 50 percent of the total worldwide, reports the Associated Press. Last year, sales of chips in the Asia Pacific grew by 78 percent. In Japan, which SIA is not included in the APR, were signed deals worth 3.4 billion dollars, accounting for more than 15 per cent of the market. In the North, South and Central America and Europe were sold chips to the 3,6 and 2,9 billion respectively.
For comparison, in January 2010, the global average for 3 months was 22.5 billion dollars. This value is 47 percent higher than the figure achieved the previous year.
