Google Inc. in late June - early July 2010 will start selling digital versions of books, writes the Wall Street Journal. The new service is called Google Editions. Books will be available, finding them by searching Google. Access to purchased books will be available from many kinds of devices. It is not known whether the price set by publishers of books or by the Google.
Booksellers and independent shops to sell books that are included in the range of Google Editions, on their own sites. Google will share with them the proceeds from the sales. No declarations of support for Google Editions major market participants have been made. The new initiative Google has no relation to the service Google Books, where you store your scanned versions of books. Google is still trying to resolve the issues of rights to these works with authors, their successors and assigns.
The main competitors Google Editions will shop Amazon, Barnes & Noble and the corporation Apple, recently launched its online booksellers iBookstore. Amazon uses the wireless delivery of books in the reading room Kindle. At Barnes & Noble has a similar device called the Nook. iBookstore in turn, is primarily intended for a tablet iPad.
