Sharp Corp. has developed a three-dimensional camera for mobile phones and other portable devices. The new development will be the world's first camera to mobile phones capable of shooting video HD (720p), reported in the official press release.

Development of the Japanese company consists of interconnected two lenses. They will both shoot some images for right and left eyes. In this image processing - such as brightness adjustment, color correction and synchronization of video - will also be carried out simultaneously.

It is expected that the test samples will be sent to OEM-producers in July. Until the end of the year Sharp plans to start mass production of new modules.

Currently, many electronics manufacturers, including Sony, Panasonic and Samsung announced the release of 3D-TV, as well as cameras that can shoot three-dimensional images. To view videos in 3D on these televisions often requires use of special glasses.
